Who We Are
Garjana Dhol Tasha San Antonio
Music has the power to connect, heal, inspire, and bring people together. It transcends boundaries of geography, language, religion, and culture, creating a shared rhythm that everyone can feel.
Garjana, meaning “a powerful roar,” was born from this belief.
We are a group of passionate individuals from diverse professions, backgrounds, and walks of life, united by our love for music, Maharashtrian culture, and community service. Through the powerful beats of Dhol and Tasha, we aim to celebrate our cultural heritage while sharing its energy with the wider San Antonio community.
But Garjana is about more than music.
At the heart of our organization is a commitment to making a meaningful difference. As a nonprofit organization, Garjana strives to support the education and well-being of underprivileged children and women, while actively participating in community-service initiatives.
Our vision is to preserve and pass on our cultural traditions to the next generation, while remaining deeply connected to the community that supports and inspires us.
On invitation, Team Garjana performs at religious celebrations, cultural programs, social gatherings, community events, festivals, and national celebrations—bringing the unmistakable energy of Dhol-Tasha wherever we go.
Through every performance, every volunteer effort, and every community initiative, we carry forward two commitments:

Garjana also encourages community members to join us in supporting meaningful causes through participation, volunteering, and charitable contributions.

Our Story / मनोगत
जिथे शब्द कमी पडतात, तिथे संगीत संवाद साधते.
आणि याच संगीताच्या ताकदीचा उपयोग संस्कृती जपण्यासाठी, माणसे जोडण्यासाठी आणि समाजासाठी काहीतरी सकारात्मक करण्यासाठी व्हावा, या सुंदर संकल्पनेतून जन्म झाला —
“गर्जना – ढोल ताशा, सॅन अँटोनियो”
“गर्जना” म्हणजे केवळ आवाज नाही —
ती आहे संस्कृतीची, एकतेची आणि समाजभावनेची गर्जना.-‘Roaring with Community ’.
While coming together to start a new social commitment, Garjana found a surprisingly common thread between all of us which is ‘Music’.
Dhol-Tasha….. Playing Indian traditional drums…. Garjana decided to make this ‘joyous beating’ the face of their social organization
ढोल-ताशा
“ढोल-ताशा” हे नाव जरी कानावर पडले, तरी नकळत हात ताल धरू लागतात. ढोल-ताशा हा आपल्या महाराष्ट्रीय संस्कृतीचा अविभाज्य भाग आहे. त्याचा नाद उत्साह निर्माण करतो, ऊर्जा देतो आणि वातावरण भारून टाकतो.
शिवकालापासून आपल्या संस्कृतीत रुजलेली ताशा, झांज यांसारखी पारंपरिक वाद्ये आणि पुढे पेशवाईच्या काळात लोकप्रिय झालेली ढोल व लेझीमची परंपरा महाराष्ट्राच्या सांस्कृतिक वारशाचा महत्त्वाचा भाग आहे.
ही परंपरा आपल्या पुढील पिढीपर्यंत पोहोचावी, मुलांना तिची ओळख व्हावी आणि त्यांच्यामध्ये आपल्या संस्कृतीबद्दल अभिमान निर्माण व्हावा, ही गर्जनाची प्रमुख प्रेरणा आहे.
सॅन अँटोनियोमध्येही आपल्या ढोलाचा दमदार आवाज घुमावा, या मनातील इच्छेतून ऑगस्ट २०२१ मध्ये “गर्जना”ची सुरुवात झाली. हौशी आणि उत्साही मंडळी एकत्र आली. भारतातून ढोल, ताशे आणि आवश्यक वाद्यसामग्री मागवण्यात आली आणि एका नव्या प्रवासाला सुरुवात झाली.
सुरुवातीला आम्ही ढोल-ताशा पथकाच्या मूलभूत गोष्टी शिकण्यास सुरुवात केली —
पथक म्हणजे काय, वादनाची पद्धत, शिस्त, संस्कार, विविध ठेके आणि हात, वाद्यांची बांधणी, त्यांची निगा आणि एकत्रित वादनातील समन्वय.
योग्य सरावाची जागा शोधून नियमित सराव सुरू झाला. काही महिन्यांच्या अथक मेहनतीनंतर गर्जनाने सार्वजनिक कार्यक्रमांमध्ये आपले पहिले पाऊल ठेवले.
आज गर्जनाचा प्रत्येक ठोका फक्त संगीताचा आवाज नाही.
तो आपल्या संस्कृतीचा अभिमान आहे.
तो आपल्या एकतेचा आवाज आहे.
तो पुढील पिढीकडे परंपरा पोहोचवण्याचा प्रयत्न आहे.
आणि तो समाजासाठी काहीतरी चांगले करण्याच्या आपल्या बांधिलकीची आठवण आहे.
ढोलाच्या ठोक्यावर आणि ताशाच्या थापीवर आम्ही स्वतःही धुंद होतो —
आणि तुम्हालाही या प्रवासाचा भाग बनवतो.
संस्कृती जपूया. समाजाशी जोडले जाऊया. एकत्र गर्जना करूया.
